Setelah Galaxy Tab, Apple kini Blokir Nexus

Iran Siap Luncurkan Satelit Fajar

30 Negara Meminta Bantuan Iran Menghadapi Virus Flame

Iran Akan Segera Luncurkan UAV Baru Produksi Domestik

(IRIB Indonesia/MZ)

Sharp Elite Pro-60X5FD

How elite is Sharp’s Elite Pro-60X5FD? So elite that you can’t just walk into your local big-box store and walk out with one. So elite that if you have to ask how much it costs, you can’t afford it. So elite that it doesn’t even say Sharp on the bezel; it says Elite.
With that kind of cred, you expect one damn good TV. And the Pro-60X5FD is that, with to-die-for black levels, glorious color, enough ports to fill two TVs, and just about every eyeball-pleasing extra technologists have invented. Only a couple of usability quirks stop this panel from achieving perfection.
The first thing you’re likely to notice about the 60-inch LED-backlit screen, aside from its room-commanding size, is that you can see yourself in it. The high-gloss glass reflects everything, which is not a problem when you’re in a dark room watching something bright, but distracts like crazy when there’s ambient light from lamps and windows.
Other TVs have a matte finish that helps reduce the glare. But perhaps the Elite’s mirror-like surface is the price you pay for the deepest blacks and most spot-on colors you’re likely to see in a home environment. Ye, gods, does this screen look sweet.
Likewise, the Elite rocks the best 3-D this side of the megaplex. A Blu-ray of Despicable Me, played on the blessedly 3-D-savvy PlayStation 3, resulted in Blown-Away Me. There’s even a 3-D-to-2-D conversion option that lets weary-eyed viewers downshift while others stick with all three D’s. However, while Sharp bundles two pairs of active-shutter glasses, the only sanctioned way to charge them is through the TV’s own USB port — and there’s only one. Weak.
Speaking of game consoles, Blu-ray players, and the like, you can connect up to five of them to the Elite’s seemingly endless array of HDMI inputs. Roku box optional, though: the Elite has a Netflix button right on its remote, and that’s just one of eight media apps accessible from its slick pop-up menu. Unfortunately, while the selection includes video heavyweights like Vudu and YouTube, it lacks heavierweights like Amazon and Hulu. And what’s with building in Napster but not Pandora? At least there’s DLNA support for streaming your own media libraries.
Even the fanciest HDTVs tend to have crummy speakers, but the Elite pairs two 15-watt cones with a 15-watt subwoofer, resulting in sound that’s pretty decent. In fact, big props to the Clear Voice menu option that boosts dialog volume. Of course, any home theater with a TV like this as the centerpiece is certain to have a comparably lavish surround-sound system, so this is practically superfluous hardware.

Dell’s Big-Screen, All-in-One Beauty

This computer got a lot of “oohs” and “ahhs” during the week it sat on my desk in the Wired office. And for good reason: Dell’s flagship all-in-one desktop, the brightest star in its XPS line of performance-minded machines, has got to be one of the nicest-looking Windows PCs currently on the market.
As with any large-screen all-in-one, the display is the centerpiece — in this case, a giant, bright 27-inch display encased in edge-to-edge glass above a subtle, black chin.
The rest of the XPS One 2710 exhibits the same minimal design. The silver case instantly reminds one of the iMac (actually, the look of almost every all-in-one PC looks like the iMac), but the finish is not quite as high-end. Rather than use aluminum, Dell opted for a plastic body with a silver-colored coating. It looks nice from afar, but when you actually touch it, it feels cheap.

Unless you plan to caress your all-in-one regularly, this isn’t a huge drawback. The screen is what really matters. At 2560×1440 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio, the XPS One’s WLED-backlit screen is the best I’ve seen on an all-in-one Windows computer. It’s definitely up there with Apple’s 27-inch iMac, which sports the same screen resolution and pixel density. It’s not as advanced as the new MacBook Pro’s display, of course, but colors appear vibrant and blacks are rich. I was never disappointed with the way an image or video looked on the screen.
The screen’s quality can be attributed to the fact that the XPS One 2710 uses a Samsung PLS (plane-to-line switching) display. It’s a technology that Samsung touts as giving screens a wider viewing angle, increased brightness, and better image quality than the standard IPS (in-plane switching) displays. I did notice that the display never appeared washed-out, even at extreme angles.

Google Glass Will Fit Into Your Energy Drink-Fueled Lifestyle

Google I/O’s day-one keynote could be fittingly tag-lined “Android Reloaded.”

On Wednesday, Google unveiled Android 4.1, aka Jelly Bean, complete with revamped voice features that make Android a clear rival to Apple’s Siri. Also revealed was the Nexus 7, a tablet tailored to purchasing and consuming books, magazines, music, movies and TV shows. It’s a clear bid to challenge Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

It’s patently obvious that Google knows who Android’s biggest rivals are.

Google also unveiled Nexus Q, a streaming-audio device that’s entirely dependent on Android and Google’s cloud services. We have an exclusive look at it here. For now, let’s dig deep into the new 7-inch tablet and mobile OS.

Nexus 7

The Nexus 7, built by Asus and designed in concert with Google, will be the first device to ship straight out of the box running Jelly Bean. The tablet, which we just received from Google and will have a hands-on with later, is impressive. It’s lightweight, it’s thin, it’s fast and it makes for a pleasant book- and magazine-reading experience. The home screen of the Nexus 7 features a “my library” widget that puts front and center all the content you’ve purchased from the Google Play online storefront.

Other widgets offer recommendations on apps, magazines and video that you might like — all these suggestions are based on what you’ve already purchased from Google Play. And, as always, all of your content is stored in the cloud to be streamed or downloaded at will. All of these Nexus 7 features deliver punch for punch what Amazon offers in the Kindle Fire, and at the same $200 price point.

But where Google and Asus one-up the Fire is in the level of hardware the Nexus 7 packs. Inside the device is Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 12-core Nvidia GPU, 1GB of RAM and a display sporting a 1280×800 resolution and 178-degree viewing angle. The tablet also supports bluetooth and NFC, and includes a front-facing camera — three features the Fire doesn’t have.

Google also made a point of noting that Google Play offers the largest online eBook store as well, with more than 4 million books for download.

Jelly Bean and Google’s Siri Fighter

While Jelly Bean is officially making its debut on the Nexus 7, the Samsung-built Galaxy Nexus smartphone won’t be left out either. Google is delivering Android 4.1 as a mid-July, over-the-air update to the Galaxy Nexus, which was reduced from $399 to $349 in Google Play on Wednesday.

Most of Jelly Bean’s upgrades are focused on polishing what Google started in Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich. A project called Butter is focused on speeding up the frame rate of the Android UI to 60 frames per second, about the speed of today’s top console videogames. Google achieved this by altering Android so that it can tap into a device’s CPU, GPU and display to get all three running in parallel, said Dave Burke, an Android product manager. What this actually results in is a much smoother experience in navigating and launching apps throughout the stock Android experience. Butter’s features are available to all developers in the Jelly Bean software development kit, which Google released Wednesday.

The most noticeable changes ushered in by Jelly Bean will definitely be in the search and voice side of things.

Google’s voice features have always been among the best on any phones, allowing users to place a call, rattle off a text message or email, listen to music, navigate to locations in Google Maps, set an alarm and, of course, search the web. But with Siri, Apple gave the iPhone (and soon the iPad) most of those functions in the form of a voice-activated assistant that spoke back to users, sometimes with a bit of humor.

In Jelly Bean, Google has a proper Siri fighter, but she has no fancy name a la Siri or Samsung’s S Voice. In Jelly Bean, the voice assistant simply emerges with a tap of the microphone icon in the ever-present search box on Android’s home screens. And she works well, understanding a decent amount of natural language. Before, in previous versions of Android, when you searched by voice you received simple text results. But now the unnamed assistant talks back in a smoother, less robotic-sounding female voice than Siri and S Voice. She also provides sports scores, weather information, historical facts, geographical facts, and image search results. And all of this information is delivered via a series of cards that Google is calling Google Now cards.

Google+ Gets a Tablet-Friendly Redesign

Google updated its Google+ app for Android smartphones and tablets Wednesday with a slick new UI and new features announced at its annual Google I/O developer conference.
Google’s social network, Google+, just celebrated its one-year birthday. The service now boasts 150 million active users, with 50 percent signing in daily, according to Google’s latest figures. And active Google+ users are spending more than 12 minutes a day in the stream, up 9 minutes a day from a few months ago. More of those minutes are coming from mobile users than web users, so it makes sense that Google would optimize that stream, especially for tablet owners.
Google+ for tablets features a redesigned UI. The app is image-heavy, like before, but now it takes on an almost Windows 8-like feel with post images of two different sizes. If Google detects a story is picking up momentum in terms of +1′s and comments, it will be shown as a larger image rather than a small one. In landscape, the app scrolls sideways; in portrait, it flicks vertically.
You can change what stream you’re viewing by tapping a drop-down menu at the top left of the app. You can share a thought or photo, or your location by clicking in the upper right of the app, which also houses an icon you can click to refresh your stream.
As you’re flicking to see older Google+ posts, the rectangular posts fly into view individually, slotting into place as an informational mosaic.
